William Phelps Jr.

William (“Butch” or “Bill”) Phelps Jr., 85, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

Bill was predeceased by his parents, William A. Phelps Sr. and Luella Clark Phelps and brothers, Jacob and Robert Phelps.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lucy Wayman Phelps; daughters, Dianna Sabotka and Lorri (John) Hill, both of Cato, NY.  He will also be missed by his seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.  Bill is also survived by his sister-in law, Linda Phelps; and his siblings, Catherine Halstead, Ivy Tanner, Carol (Don) Turnbull, Cynthia (Roger) Doty, and Bernard (Kathy) Phelps: sisters-in-law, Nancy Wayman and Linda Wayman; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Per Bill’s wishes, there will be no services or calling hours.
