Peggy Kornegay Fowler

Peggy Kornegay Fowler, age 88, was called home to be with the Lord on June 4, 2025. Born in Warsaw, NC on July 22, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Henry Street Kornegay and Effie Lee Smith Kornegay. She adored her family and friends, always concerned with their well-being. She was a woman devoted to Christ and found joy in prayer and strength in scripture.  Some of her favorite times were spent participating in bible studies. She attended Faith Fellowship Church. She graduated from East Carolina University and went on to a long career in teaching at Southwood Elementary School and Pink Hill Elementary School.

Survivors include her son Steven Fowler and wife Teresa of Pink Hill, daughter Kathryn Fowler Rion and husband Tuck of Loris, SC, son Joseph Fowler of Farmville, NC; six grandchildren, Stephanie Fowler Dixon and husband Brian of Naples, Fla., Ivy Boyette of Pink Hill, NC, Aubrey Rion and wife Rebekka of Norwich, England, Hannah Rion Benjamin and husband Steve of Gainesville, Ga., Quinton Fowler and Braxton Fowler of Farmville, NC; six great grandchildren, Adalynn Boyette, Henry Dixon, Wolfe Rion, Erik Boyette, Beatrix Rion and Cecelia Rion. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Madeline Kornegay of Wilmington, NC, sister- in- law Sallie Rumer of Blounts Creek, NC, brother- in- law Gerald Uzzell of Goldsboro, NC, many nieces and nephews, dear friends Nancy Wilson and Gwen Gobble.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Margaret Kornegay, brother Henry Street Kornegay, brother George Kornegay, brother Robert Kornegay, sister Eva Kornegay Uzzell, brother Matthew Kornegay.

Graveside services will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Devotional Gardens in Warsaw, North Carolina.
