Maurice Theodore McLaurin, 76, formerly of Pink Hill, passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2022. He was born on July 11, 1946, and grew up at Four Points near Wade in Cumberland County, N.C. He was the son of the late Empie McLaurin and Vera Josephine Jones. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Annette McLaurin and Sandra Burton and a grandson, Robert Dunn. He is survived by a sister, Phyllis Luck, his three children Tonya, Angie, and Brett (Sue Ei), six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He took over the family farm upon his father’s death when he was 15 years old until he graduated from Central High School in 1964. He spent much of his working life as a hog farmer with several pork producers in eastern North Carolina and also sold farm equipment. He was a kind and generous soul with a deep sense of responsibility and a strong work ethic. He enjoyed holidays and special occasions with family, especially gifts “on the sly” with his sisters. In recent years it was so special to him when all his children would gather together to celebrate Christmas and his birthday. Over the years he enjoyed hunting and raised beagles and border collies.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Pink Hill Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 11. Interment will be at Lafayette Memorial Park (2301 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, N.C. 28301) at 3PM Saturday July 23, 2022.
