Margaret Peterson Obituary

Margaret Daniell Peterson

September 11, 1977 - June 22, 2022

Margaret “Maggie” Daniell Peterson, 44, of Cary, NC went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones after a long battle with breast cancer.

Maggie was born in Raleigh on September 11, 1977, to James “Lynn” Daniell and Margaret Harriss Daniell. Maggie attended Sanderson High School (Class of 1995), where she was involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She spent her summers at Camp Oak Hill, where she later became a counselor. Growing up, Maggie enjoyed swimming, cheerleading, and horseback riding.

Maggie attended UNC-Greensboro, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She was involved in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, where she met her loving husband, Robert “Rob” Edward Lee Peterson III. Maggie and Rob were married on August 10, 2002, in Raleigh, NC and shared nearly 20 years of connubial bliss.

After graduation, Maggie worked as a nurse at Duke Pediatric Bone Marrow Unit. She later worked at Duke and Rex in Labor and Delivery. Maggie helped to bring many babies into the world, including several of her closest friends’ children. She also worked for the Carolina Cord Blood Bank and later at Duke Translational Medicine. Maggie most recently worked as a Principal Safety Specialist at PPD.

Maggie’s greatest role was as a mother to Robert Edward “Lee” Peterson IV and Amelia Margaret Peterson. Maggie loved attending dance competitions with Amelia and supporting Lee with Boy Scouts and football. She always made time to tuck her kids into bed each night, pray with them, and sing them lullabies. She also loved her pets, including cats Stewie and Ollie.

Maggie’s greatest legacy is her loving family. She had a joyous ability to enjoy each day as an adventure. She loved to travel and would create fun-filled trips with her family and friends. Maggie and her family vacationed at Ocean Isle Beach each summer. Her love of decorating filled many hours and that creative talent led her to developing several small businesses with friends that enabled them to go on wonderful trips.

Throughout her life, Maggie held an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ her Lord and shared that faith with those who surrounded her. Maggie’s family has been members of Hope Community Church for nearly 20 years. Maggie was active in her women’s bible study group, which she loved dearly.

Maggie was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Harriss Daniell, her infant sister Emily Robinson Daniell, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Riddick Harriss of Wilson, NC, and Mr. and Mrs. James DeWitt Daniell of Wilson, NC.

Maggie is survived by her husband Robert "Rob" Edward Lee Peterson III, son Robert Edward “Lee" Peterson IV, daughter Amelia Margaret Peterson, her parents James “Lynn” and Sarah Pate Daniell, sisters Cassy Ray Lee and Jordan Julia Strong, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
