Linda Jean (Murphy) Smith

Linda Murphy Smith, 77, of Pink Hill, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Kitty Askins in Goldsboro.    She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Sadie Murphy; brother, Randolph Murphy, sister Rachel Arnette and her daughter, Allison Smith.

Linda was a former teacher and librarian at Bethel Christian Academy, Lenoir Community College, and Beulaville Elementary.  She retired from Duplin County Schools.  She was a member of Believers’ Fellowship where she was the pianist for her home church and other churches when needed.  Linda was also an author.  She had a strong Christian faith and enjoyed sharing it with others.

Linda is survived by her husband, Charles “Buster” Smith; son Brett Smith (Stephanie); daughters, Tracy Smith, and Lindsay Marshburn (Billy); grandchildren, Aaron Smith, Mason Smith, Gracie Marshburn, and Sadie Marshburn.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Pink Hill Funeral Home with visitation starting one hour before the service (1-2).  Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.

The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Lindsay and Billy Marshburn, 5527 Murphy Road, Pink Hill, NC,28572.
