Lettie Elizabeth (Tiny) Sumner of. Leighton Road, Pink Hill died Thursday, July 24 at Lenoir Assisted Living Pink Hill, NC surrounded by family.
She was born in Lenoir County September 20, 1929 to Edgar M. and Eula
Mae (née Riggs ) Kornegay. Tiny was a lifelong resident of Lenoir County.
Tiny was preceded in death by her husband John Ivey Sumner and son Gary Sumner. She was also preceded in death by brothers Milton and Glenwood Kornegay and sisters Ruby Miller, Evelyn Quinn and Betty Thigpen.
She is survived by her sons, Donnie (Shelby) Sumner, Woodrow (Anita) Sumner, John Edgar Sumner, Sherrill (Karen) Sumner and daughter, Carolyn (Mike) Kelly.
She is also survived by sister Grace Quinn and brother Robert (Cindi) Kornegay.
Tiny is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
When her health allowed, Tiny attended Mt Zion PFWB Church in Pink Hill.
Tiny’s greatest joy in life was her large family and she loved cooking and having everyone over. She lovingly passed her favorite country recipes on to her granddaughter Ashley.
Funeral services will be at Pink Hill Funeral Home at 6 p.m. Saturday with visitation immediately following. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill, Sunday at 5 p.m.
