Leon Woodrow Heath, 80, of Seven Springs passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024 surrounded by family at ECU Health Duplin Hospital in Kenansville, NC.  He was born February 21, 1943 in Duplin County to the late Leon Cleo and Mary Lee Turner Heath.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Leon Heath; a Granddaughter, Angel Isham; a Great Grandson, Emerson Potter and by his brother-in-law, Russell Barnett. 

Woodrow, as he was called by his friends and family, lived and worked most of his life in Duplin County. He was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  At the time of his passing he attended the Albertson Ward Congregation where he enjoyed years of serving in the Missionary Program teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to others alongside the young missionaries of the Church. 

Woodrow served his Country in active duty with the National Guard during riots in California and the Cuban Missile Crisis. 

Woodrow is survived by his wife, Clara Sue Treen Heath, of the home; 2 daughters: Cindy Britt of Mount Olive and Jessica Tyndall and husband, Dennis, of Seven Springs; 2 sons:  Brent Heath and his wife, Debra, of Mount Olive and David Heath and his wife, Mary Ann, of Cape Carteret, NC and by the children’s mother, Mary Lou Brown Heath of Pink Hill, NC. 

Woodrow leaves behind   20 grandchildren:  Caitee West, Carree Potter, Reece Britt, Chloee Britt, Carlie Hiatt, Woody Heath, Jimmy Heath, Jaela Heath, Mary Lee Heath, Hilary Nilsen, Lydia Heath, Kamron Heath, Jordan Heath, Peyton Heath, Brandon Heath, Ashleigh Rouse, Cody Isham, Maeci Tyndall, Dennis Tyndall, Jr., and Amanda Tyndall, and 8 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

He is also survived by a Sister, Joan Barnett of Albertson, and 3 brothers:  Donald (Linda) Heath of  California; Kenneth (Gail) Heath of Pink Hill, NC; and Danny (Debbie) Heath of Raleigh, NC and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, stepchildren, step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

He was Papa Woody to all his grandchildren and loved spending time with his big, wonderful family. 

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Pink Hill Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Albertson Ward with burial following at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.
