John Dwight Garris

John Dwight Garris, “John Boy”, age 75, went to be with his heavenly father on May 22, 2024.  He was born June 18, 1948 in Lenoir County to the late Marvin and Ruby Lee Garris.  He retired from the US Postal Service of 39 years of service.  After his retirement, he worked as a salesclerk at Neuse Sport Shop for 8 years.  He also worked for Tea Creek Outfitters for 2 years. He drove for Lenoir County Transit and presently for Dempsey Drugs.  Johnny was an avid quail hunter and bass fisherman. 

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Ruby Lee Garris and grandparents, Ed and Pollie Garris and two brothers.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jo Ann Pate Garris of the home.  He is also survived by 2 daughters, Wendy Tyson and Tina Dunlow and husband Jeff; 2 stepsons, Tim Rhodes and wife Diane and Michael Rhodes and wife Wendy and 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and many wonderful friends.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Pink Hill Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Pink Hill Funeral Home with burial following at the Garris Cemetery in Albertson.
