Joan Leslie Gray Taylor passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family and is now united with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Lib Gray. Survivors include her husband, Willard (Boss) Taylor, her children, Sherry T. Taylor (husband Ronnie), and Wally Taylor (wife Celena), two grandchildren, Chase and Kylee Taylor, a great-grandson, Brayden Taylor, a great-granddaughter, Aaliyah, who’s due in December, her brother, Clifton Gray, two special aunts, Rena Belle Burns and Hazel Lang Eubanks, and many extended family members and friends. Joan also had a long-time fur baby, Honey Bun, whom she loved dearly.
Joan was a loving Christian woman who cared deeply for others even though she was bedridden for many months. She was a member of Rivermont Baptist Church where she played the piano and organ. Music was one of her passions, as she played music and shared her love for Jesus from Virginia to Florida during her life. Often at home, you could hear and find her playing her piano well after midnight. Joan’s other passions were spending time with her family, shopping for purses and shoes, and giving special gifts to others. She was a graduate of South Lenoir High School and worked as a teacher’s assistant, a special needs bus driver, and at Caswell Center.
We would like to say thank you to 3HC and Community Health Hospice for their care of her the past several months. Mrs. Taylor’s homegoing service will be Sunday, August 29th at 5 p.m. at Rivermont Baptist Church, with visitation to follow, and the interment will be Monday, August 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston, N.C.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Liver Foundation or Rivermont Baptist Church.
