Jeraldine Hill, 85, entered her Eternal Home on Thursday, May 21, 2026, surrounded by her children. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Lee; and husband, Leon Cameron Hill.
Jeraldine graduated from Southwood High School in 1959 and worked for many years as a substitute teacher and a bus driver for Lenoir County Schools. She later enjoyed her years working at the Etta Jones Turner Public Library in Pink Hill where she made many friends and taught crochet and knitting classes. Jeraldine was recognized for knitting 200 hats for the babies at UNC Lenoir. She was a faithful member of Unity FWB Church and taught Sunday School for many years. Jeraldine was also a loyal blood donor for the American Red Cross and member of the Pink Hill Garden Club. She will be greatly missed.
Jeraldine is survived by her daughters, Teresa Orr, Deborah Croom and Brenda Butcher (Tom); brothers, Jasper Thompson (Miranda), Dennis Thompson (Deb), Charles Thompson; sisters, Millie Griffin (Eddie) and Effie Mae St.Onge. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Wendy Hamilton (Timothy), Richard Orr (Paige), Sean Croom, Brian Croom, Cecil Jones (Amanda) and Chase Lee (Christina); 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Unity Free Will Baptist Church, Deep Run. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. after visitation. Burial will follow at the Amos Stroud Cemetery, Old Pink Hill Road, Deep Run.
