James Durwood "J D" Turner

James Durwood (J.D.) Turner, 74, of Deep Run, passed away on Friday, December 27,
2024, at UNC Health Lenoir in Kinston.

The service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, at Pink Hill Funeral Home, with
visitation to follow. Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Gray
Branch Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Deep Run.

He was preceded in death by his father, Durwood Turner; his mother, Frances Turner; his sisters,
Rachel Hancock and Georgianna Griffin; his brothers, Charlie Turner, Basil Hildreth, and Robert
Earl Turner; and his great-grandson, Parker James Player.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Turner, of the home; his children, Michael Turner and wife
Christy of Kinston, and Michelle Harper and husband Craig of Deep Run; four grandchildren,
Victoria Hill, Garrett Harper and wife Margo, Hannah Green and husband Ethan, and Avery
Harper; and his siblings, Jake Turner of Deep Run, Jerry Turner of Kannapolis, Sherwood Turner
of Deep Run, Darlene Turner of Deep Run, and Kay Tanner of Deep Run. He is also survived by
a great-grandson on the way, Emerson, and his loyal dog, Dalton, who was always by his side.

J.D. was a dedicated member of Gray Branch Free Will Baptist Church and found great comfort
in knowing Jesus Christ as his Savior and friend. Flowers are welcome, or donations in memory
of J.D. may be made to Gray Branch Free Will Baptist Church or the International Waldenström's Macroglobulinemia Foundation.
