Houston Bodell Howard, 80, of 203 South Turner Street passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Pink Hill Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder and served as Sunday School superintendent for 42 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 379 and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Pink Hill Ruritan Club, and was the former Mayor and a Town Commissioner of Pink Hill. He was a partner in Pink Hill Funeral Home, Inc. and a retired independent insurance agent with Howard's Insurance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 9 at Pink Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Ann Brinson officiating. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ella Howard of the home; daughters, Fran Ward and husband Melvin of Pink Hill, Pam Howard Smith of Pink Hill, Bobbie Sugg and husband Al of LaGrange, and Mary Graves and husband Billy of Pink Hill; sons Houston Bodell Howard, Jr. and wife Denise of Mt. Olive, and Clay Howard and wife Annette of Pink Hill; sisters, Verdie Hill of Pink Hill, and Eloise Hemby of Kinston; brothers, Hugh Hallet Howard of Kinston and Harold Howard of Pink Hill. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Julie Jackson and husband Roy, Houston Bodell "Tray" Howard III and wife Tonya , Ryan Howard, Kyle Howard, Sara Smith and fiancé Seth Yowell, Melissa Smith, Adam Sugg, Allison Sugg, Morgan Graves, Will Graves, Whitney Graves, Jonathan Howard, and Mary Katheryn Howard; great-grandchildren, Diana Jackson, Jamysen Howard, Kody Buck and Meghan Buck. Visitation will be held at Pink Hill Funeral Home from 6 until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2010. Memorial contributions may be made to Pink Hill Presbyterian Church, P. O.
