Flora Mae Hawkins, 92, gained her angel wings on February 8, 2022 peacefully at UNC Wayne Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on February 2, 1930 in Spring City, Tennessee to Mary and Clyde. Mae loved Tennessee even after moving to North Carolina where she married and raised her children. She was the toughest woman her family had ever known and was always feisty and quick witted. Mae had a heart to help others and loved cooking for everyone when she was able to. She loved fishing and would sit there for hours even if she wasn’t catching anything.

She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Holloway and Clyde Cox, husband Murrill Hawkins, daughters Marion Hawkins and Henrietta Rissler, sister Jewel Olsen, brother J.D. Morris, and granddaughter Sydney Reed.

She is survived by her children Nina Jones, Eddie and Rita Hawkins, Kathy and Linnie Stroud, and Charlie and Vanessa Hawkins, grandchildren Brandi, Kevin, Josh, Brittany, Bridgett, James Edward, Eddie Jr., Linnie Ray, Sarah, Frankie, Becky, Angel, David, Jeremy, Tammy, Amanda, Nobby, Henry, Michael Ray and many great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill, NC at 4 PM.  There will not be a visitation before the service.  The family will be accepting friends at 2046 Smith Grady Rd Deep Run NC 28525 on Saturday after 4PM and Sunday following the service.
