Ernest Norman Murphy, Jr. passed away quietly at home on January 4, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest N. Murphy, Sr. and Gretchen Murphy and sister, Elizabeth Ann Harper.

Ernest served 3 years in the U.S. Air Force, was a retired mechanic and served as an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He was a loving father and grandfather.  He was honored to be called “Papa PeeWee.”

He is survived by his wife, Patricia T. Murphy; sons, Roger Baysden and Ernest N. Murphy, III (fiancee’ Dana); daughters, Rhonda Gibson (Phillip), Maria Moore (Michael), Donna Barwick (Chris); siblings, Carol Chandler, Charles Murphy and Cecil Murphy; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Woodington Ward.  Per Gov. Cooper's orders, masks will be required.   Burial will follow at the Tyndall Cemetery in Deep Run.  The family will receive friends at the graveside.
