Ernest Byrd Jr.

Ernest Byrd Jr., 80, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 9, 2023.  He was a dedicated Christian for 58 years.. Ernest served the church in whatever capacity he was needed – from being on the Board to being the handy man.  Ernest Jr. served with the Pink Hill Fire and Rescue for 25 years.  He spent a number of those years as Captain of the Rescue Squad.  His favorite hobby was antique cars.  Coastal Carolina A’s became his support group for his Model A.   He was a family man and always took care of his family in any way he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Lee Byrd and Ernest Byrd Sr.; brothers, Lautie Byrd and Perry Byrd; sister, Elizabeth Stanley; and mother-in-law, Bettie Wiley.

Ernest Jr. is survived by his wife, Christine Byrd; son, Steve Allen Byrd; daughter, Lisa Carol Byrd and one grandchild; sisters, Ruby Lee Smith, Tessie Hill, Irene Davis and sister-in-law, Teresa Byrd.

Funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Turning Point Assembly.  Visitation will follow the service.  Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.
