Elva Taylor, 88, went to be with her heavenly father Monday, July 26, 2021.  Elva was born in Jones County to John “Robert” and Ruth (Quinn) Jarman on January 2, 1933. 

She was married to McLean “Mac” Taylor for 59 years and together they raised three beautiful children: Beverly, Dennis, and Keith.  She served the Lord faithfully and was well-loved by many. She was a founding member of Rivermont Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School to 4- and 5-year olds for 62 years.  Young children were her true joy in life and especially when leading them to know and love Jesus as she did.

Elva was preceded in death by her beloved husband, McLean “Mac” Taylor, in 2012, her father and mother Robert and Ruth Jarman, stepmother Reba Noble Jarman, and her grandchildren, Taylor and Katlyn Humphrey. 

She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandma Shug and grammy.  She is survived by her daughter; Beverly Humphrey and husband Wayland, sons; Dennis Taylor and wife Rhonda, Keith Taylor and wife Gale, sisters; Zelda Hawk, Lois Bender, and Dianne Greene and husband Ben.

She is also survived by her grandchildren; Carly Humphrey, Megan Taylor, Matt Taylor, Laney Harrold, Josh Taylor, and Zachary Taylor, and great-grandchildren; Olivia and Logan Harrold, Addison and Kale Taylor and Darbey and Tucker Barnhill and many extended family and special friends.  Among those, we are especially grateful for her caregivers, Thelma Gray, Kim Langston and Nikki Hayes and the 3HC Hospice Staff.  They will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 pm Friday, July 30, 2021 at Rivermont Baptist Church with Pastor Luis Miranda officiating.  The family will receive friends following the funeral service at church.  The burial will be held 11:00 am Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Pinelawn Memorial Park.  Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to Rivermont Baptist Church Memorial Fund 2478 Hwy 258 South Kinston, NC 28501.
