Elmer Gene Monta, 74, of Deep Run, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020 at his home.  He served his country in the United States Army, worked many years in the oilfield, moved to NC and worked in construction and in his later years at NC Hydraulics in Beulaville.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Mabel Monta and brother, Nelson Monta, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cheryl Monta of the home; children, Robin Benoit and husband Mark of Roanoke, La, Eric  Monta and wife Janet of Sulphur, LA, Wendy McKinnon and husband Sam of Goldsboro, and Kimberly Stallings and husband Jamie of LaGrange; grandchildren:  Hannah, Garrett, Matthew, Kathrine, Jordan, Blake, Bobby, Rannal, and Ross; great-grandchildren, Easton, Cullen, Gunner, Brody, Joelee, Brittany, Trenton, Maci, Jaron, Jayde and great-great grandchild, Kenley; brother, Raymond Monta of Hathaway, LA and sister, Betty Lopez of Lafayette, La.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the Maxwell Cemetery in Albertson.
