Edgar Bland Casteen

Edgar Bland Casteen, 87, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at UNC Lenoir.  He was born on December 27, 1937 to the late Bland Casteen and Maggie Jones Casteen.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Haywood, K.W., and Guy Casteen and sister, Hilda Chappell.

Edgar is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Casteen; son, Edgar Wayne Casteen; sister, Hester Powell (Jimmy); granddaughters, Taylor and Brooke Casteen and many special nieces and nephews.

Edgar worked with heavy equipment and trucking.  He was happiest when he was mowing grass on his John Deere mower.  Edgar was an active member of Christian Chapel Church.  He taught a Sunday School class for many years and enjoyed playing his guitar along with the piano player.  He participated in all church activities as long as he was able. 

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill with the Rev. Craig Simmons officiating.
