Dottie Eilene Atkinson

Dottie Eilene Atkinson, 69, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Wayne UNC Healthcare Center on Sunday, May 30, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Thel Hooks “Doc” Atkinson and Virginia Sanderson; and sister, Delores Ann Whitman.

Dottie worked close to 20 years at Walmart before health reasons forced her to go on disability.  She was a loving Mama and Grandma.  She was honored to be called “Baba” by many who came in contact with her.  Every day you would find her from 1:30 -3:30 watching her stories.

She is survived by her daughter, April Atkinson Gibson; son, Thomas Ashley Murphy; sisters, Peggy Merritt, Vivian Moody and Janie Holloman; grandchildren, Courtney Rose Mack, Harley Brooke Gibson, Caliyah Gabrielle Murphy, Thomas Eli Murphy; great-grandchildren, Brookelynn Nevaeh Mack, Kaeden Lee Mack and lots of nieces and nephews and special friends.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Pink Hill Funeral Home with Funeral Service following.  Burial will then be held at Gray Branch Church Cemetery in Deep Run.
