Dorothy Louise Kennedy Skeens fought the good fight with courage and determination, has kept the faith, and finished the race. Dorothy Skeens was called to cross over from this earthly life, to her heavenly home by her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, with her 2 children at her bedside holding her hand when she departed her earthly vessel to join Jesus Christ. Dorothy was born February 24, 1935 in Duplin county, NC. Dorothy leaves behind her husband, farmer in the Deep Run community and Retired Air Force Master Sgt. Linwood Skeens, the father of her two children, SSgt William Glen Skeens (Anita) of Seven Springs, and Betty Marie Skeens Overman (David), of Deep Run.
Dorothy has seven grandchildren: William Ryan Overman (Kimberly) of Deep Run, Craig Allen Overman (Ashley) of Deep Run, Thomas Brent Overman (Brandy) of Leland, Davie Lynn Overman of Deep Run, and Stacy Cannady (Scott) of Goldsboro; and Franklin Glen Skeens (Alexis) of Wayne county, and David Avery Overman who preceded her in death. Dorothy has eleven great grandchildren: Summer Lynne Overman, Savannah Grace Overman, Hayden David Overman, Kaitlyn Paige Overman, Carter Allen Overman, Caleb Cole Jernigan, Rylee Nicole Overman, Oaklyn Skeens, Jacob Tyler Pate, Jessica Pate Nelson (Marcus), and Rebecca (Becca) Pate Roscoe (Michael).
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Dorothy Louise Kennedy Skeens will be held in the Chapel at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill, NC, on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. John Taylor of Richlands, NC, and Pastor Steve Jones of Ocala, Florida. Music will be by Beverly Davenport, Rev. John & Edna Taylor, and Pastor Steve Jones..
