Donald Louis (Donnie) Bland Jr., 56, passed away unexpectedly early in the morning on May 21, 2023 at his home. He was a Tobacconist employed by Universal Leaf in Nashville, North Carolina, where he loved his job and work family. Donnie had a big heart, was full of life, and loved everyone he met.
Donnie is survived by his wife Regina Summerlin Bland of the home, of 24 years; his sister Teresa (Terri) McKenzie of Suffolk, Virginia; a step-mother, Shirley Bracey of Pink Hill; step siblings: Vonda Bracey and Robbie Bracey of Suffolk, Virginia; two sisters-in-law: Beverly Cashwell and husband Bryan of Mount Olive, NC and Carolyn Thigpen of Albertson, NC. A special couple he called mom and dad: Donald (Duck) and Shirley Metts of Pink Hill, several beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and lots of extended family near and far that he truly loved so much. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Masonic Lodge number 304.
He is preceded in death by his parents Donald Louis Bland and Bertha Elizabeth Jones Bland and a sister, Diane Elizabeth Wagoner.
Visitation will be held at the Pink Hill Funeral Home Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Pink Hill Funeral Home with interment to follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill, North Carolina.
