Delsie Sharen Spence Jenkins, 70, of Kinston went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She retired from Caswell Center after many years of service there. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend and she will be forever loved and missed.
Delsie is preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, James Duffie Jenkins; her parents, Roy Clinton and Fannie Hill Spence; and brother, Joseph Clinton Spence.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, James Duffie Jenkins II; sisters, Elsie Spence Howard and husband Clarence, and Phyllis Dianne Spence; two special nieces that she loved as her own, Melissa Howard Heath and Sherry Howard Sanderson, along with many other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved canine companion, Molly and special friend that she loved like a son, Todd McIntosh.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Greendale Forest Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Angie LaCross of Community Home Care & Hospice as well as the other special nurses that provided care for Delsie. The family would also like to express a special thanks to Sylvia Tyndall for her love, compassion, and visits throughout the past few months.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Pink Hill Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Pink Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.
