Currie Lyndell Smith

Currie Lyndell Smith, 82, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, August 10, 2023.  He was surrounded by loved ones as he passed into the arms of Christ.  Currie was predeceased by his sisters Dale Smith, Elaine Byrd and JoAnn Ipock; his mother, Annie Lee Smith and his father, Glennie Smith. 

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Smith; son, Kevin Smith of Deep Run; daughter, Amber Smith Willingham of Katy, Texas and husband Phil Willingham; grandchildren, Cole Willingham and Casey Ray Willingham; sister, Emma Jane Smith of Deep Run, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Currie was a devoted husband, father, son and brother.  He was faithful to his God and his Church having served as treasurer at Gray Branch Free Will Baptist Church in Deep Run as well as at Trinity Baptist Church in Yukon, Oklahoma.

He will be greatly missed, but there is joy in knowing he is in the arms of his Savior.

A special thank you to Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care during this difficult time.  The nursing staff and aides were some of the most caring people around.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Pink Hill Funeral Home with visitation following the service.  Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Westview Cemetery in Kinston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Gray Branch Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 288, Deep Run, NC or the Pulmonary Fibrosis  Foundation at pulmonaryfibrosis.org.

The family will receive friends at other times at their home.
