Brenda Kaye (Howard) Tyndall

Brenda Kaye Howard Tyndall, 76, of Deep Run passed away peacefully at her home on January 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rex and Raye Howard; her sister, Syl Gray and brother-in-law, Bill Gray.

Brenda was a lifelong member of Christian Chapel OFWB Church. After working many years for the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Department, she retired from the Lenoir County School system.

Brenda was a member of the first graduating class of South Lenoir High School in 1964 where she was a point guard on the basketball team. She loved playing piano, listening to all kinds of gospel music, writing poetry, spending time with her family, visiting the beach and cheering on the North Carolina Tar Heels in basketball.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 58 years, Oscar Dene Tyndall of Deep Run; son Darryl Tyndall and wife, Lori of Deep Run; daughters Deanna Smith of Deep Run and Karen Kennedy and husband, Doug of Pink Hill; son-in-law Frank Smith of Sneads Ferry; grandchildren Rhiley Marshburn and husband, Brandon, Briana Stillwell and husband, Matthew, Molly Kennedy and fiancé, Evan Maultsby, Owen Tyndall and wife, Jenna and Emma Tyndall; one great-grandson, Henry Stillwell; brother Butch Howard and wife, Wanda of Deep Run, several special nieces, nephews and family friend, Jessica Baker.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 pm with the funeral service immediately following on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Christian Chapel OFWB Church, 1213 Jonestown Road, Pink Hill, NC with the Reverend Craig Simmons officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.
