Bernice Edna Coombs, 82, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in Smithfield, NC, after several years of declining health.  She was born in Lenoir County to the late Stanley and Olivia Williams Coombs on October 20, 1942.

She always called Pink Hill home, having lived in the Pink Hill and Deep Run areas in her early years and graduating Pink Hill High School before settling in Selma, NC, in 1968.  After retirement she was devoted to her lifelong passions of travel and reading. 

She is survived by her brother Elwood Coombs and wife Sherry of Wallace, NC; nephew Roger Coombs and wife Michelle; nieces Amy Coombs Hines and husband Jimmy, Susan Coombs Bradshaw and husband Ashley.   In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her brother Larry Williams Coombs, sister Barbara Ann Coombs and nephew Michael Coombs.

A private service and burial was held at Gray Branch FWB Church in Deep Run, NC.
