Barfield Jones, 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 20, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Garfield and Alice P. Jones; sisters, Edith Catherine, Elizabeth Jones; and brother Richard L. Jones.
Barfield was born on October 5, 1951. He grew up in the Pleasant Hill area and worked on farms. After high school, he went to work as a mechanic on cars and then heavy equipment. He was an exceptional mechanic and was literally a jack of all trades. He worked many years at Barrus Construction Co. (Apac) and Barnhill Contracting Co.
He was a loving husband, dad, and papa and was loved by his family and friends. He met the love of his life Kathy in high school and they have been married almost 52 years.
Barfield was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church of Jonestown for 23 years and prior to that Maysville First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, choir member, RA director, Sunday School Teacher, Baptist Men, NC Disaster Relief Program , Campers on Mission and VBS.
Barfield loved spending time with his family, especially his 5 grandchildren. He loved camping, boating, fishing, cornhole, making and building anything and working with children and youth.
Barfield is survived by his devoted wife Katherine (Kathy) J. Jones; daughter, Jennifer Whaley; son, Joseph Matthew Jones and wife Becky; grandchildren, Tanner, Madisyn, and Makayla Whaley, and Amber Jones (fiancé Jon Whitehurst) and Megan Jones. His brothers, Ray Jones (Barbara), Raeford (Tad) Jones (Janet), Jack Jones (Darnell) and sisters, Ercell Radford (Carlton), Betty Creel (Glennie) and Bobbie Sanders (Merwin). Brothers- in- law, Ricky Jones (Jenny), Mike Jones (Kathy), David Jones (Donna) and sister-in-law, Cookie Parker (Greg) and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Pink Hill Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 7. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday June 24, 2022 at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.
