Barbara Ann Jenkins “B.J.” Smith, 78, of Deep Run, NC, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025. Born in Kinston to the late Pete and Sibbie Jenkins, B.J. lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering love, and a heart devoted to serving others. She was a committed follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and a faithful member of Smith’s New Home Free Will Baptist Church, where she served actively for many years.

B.J. was the foundation of her family and a constant source of warmth and support. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Clarence L. Smith; her devoted daughters, Stacy Hill (Milton) and Tara Anderson (Mike); her beloved grandchildren, Chris Hill (Diana), Karlee Heath (Matt), Daniel Hill (Taylor), Colby Anderson (Emily), and Colin Anderson; and her cherished great-grandson, Jace. She is also survived by several brothers- and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Kent Jenkins, and her sister, Linda Suarez.

A Celebration of B.J.’s Life will be held on Tuesday, May 20th at 6:00 p.m. at Pink Hill Funeral Home, followed by a time of visitation with family and friends. A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, May 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park. At other times, the family will be receiving friends and guests at their home at 2422 Nathan Hill Road, Deep Run.

B.J. will be remembered for her steadfast faith, gentle spirit, and the deep love she showed to her family, friends, and church. Her legacy of kindness and grace will live on in all who had the blessing of knowing her.
