Early on Thursday, June 7, 2018, Joyce Eliza Smith passed away peacefully at her home.

The daughter of the late Henry Lee and Eliza Grady Smith; her sisters, Dot, Mary Edna, Martha, Shirley,  and a brother, Allan preceded her in death.  Joyce’s husband, Earl Haywood Smith “Bill” died in 1982 and her only son, Haywood Allan Smith recently passed away on October 18, 2017.

Joyce is survived by her two daughters, Diane Tyner and Cheryl Rouse and husband John; daughter-in-law, Meleah Smith; eight grandchildren and spouses, Chris and Katie, Mark, Mary and Michael, Austin and Kelsey, Rebecca and Josh, Brandon and Stacey, Josh Smith and Haley; five great-grandchildren, Zeke, Charlotte, Everett, Zane and Genevieve Eliza; and of course, we can’t forget Jack.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2018 in the Fellowship Hall at Westminster UMC in Kinston.  Following the visitation, a service in memory of Joyce’s life will be held in the Sanctuary of Westminster at 3:00 p.m.  A graveside farewell will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.
