John William Howard, 88, of Pink Hill, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.
He was a retired farmer who took great pride in growing top quality tobacco and was also a merchant. He was preceded in death by his father, Jonas Howard, mother, Julia Byrd Howard, and wife, Sadie Smith Howard who he was married to and adored for 68 years.
John William is survived by his son, Bill Howard and wife Diane of Hugo; daughter, Carolyn Houston and husband Johnny of Pink Hill; brother, Paul Howard of Pink Hill; grandchildren, Shannon Carr, Chris Houston, Jonas Howard, and Taylor Howard; 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Pink Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the funeral service. Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2017 at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston.
