Janice Barwick Grady, 78, passed away in the comfort of her home on June 1, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Horace and Essie Lee Barwick, of Deep Run. She is survived by her husband, Donald Grady, son, Don Grady and wife Cheri Grady, grandchildren, Melissa Kelly and husband, Tyler Kelly, Elliott Grady and Breanne Saulmon. She is also survived by siblings, Lester Barwick and wife Delaina, of Deep Run, Violet Rhinehart and husband Jesse, of Raleigh, along with many special nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Deep Run High School, Atlantic Christian College and Campbell University. Her entire career was spent in education. She held leadership positions in the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. In addition, she served on the James Sprunt Community College Board of Trustees. As a community leader she was active in the Ruritans, Pleasant View Presbyterian Church, and the formation of The Grady-Outlaw Memorial Library in Albertson. Not only did she lead the library creation, but she also initiated the annual Stew Fest which continues to this day. Her influence has made a great impact on the community. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 3rd from 6-8pm with the funeral service at 11am on Monday at Pink Hill Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.
