DEEP RUN
Edna Lucille Kennedy Turner Carraway, 77, died Wednesday, November 21, 2018. The daughter of Rev. Eddie and Addie Mae Kennedy, Lucille grew up in Deep Run, NC. She graduated from Pink Hill High School in 1959. She worked many years in the thread room at Albain Shirt Company in Kinston, NC. She then began a career in the child care profession by serving at Deep Run Child Care Center in Deep Run, NC. Thereafter, she assisted her daughter in opening New Beginnings Child Care Centers in Onslow County. Lucille had a strong work ethic, which she instilled in her four children. Her sons will carry on her legacy of hard work in carpentry and construction, and her daughters in the fields of education and dentistry. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Addie Mae Kennedy, and her husband Bembery Carraway. She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Douglas Turner of Richlands and David Glenn Turner of Kinston; two daughters, Dr. Chrystal Rooks of Deep Run, and Cheryl Turner Cavanaugh of Richlands; one brother, Clarence Lee Kennedy of Deep Run; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; and a host of friends and coworkers who love her dearly.
Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Pink Hill Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Pink Hill Funeral Home with burial following at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.
